I’m so happy for having had the opportunity of participating in the PFTC5. It was very interesting to learn about traits and how to measure them. The course combined different ways of doing science, as taking online lectures, discussing papers, giving oral presentations, writing proposals and analyzing data. Discovering Wayqecha through fieldworks was fascinating. I participated in group 1, the supergroup, measuring the inter and intraspecific variability in functional traits. My main goal was to learn about the whole process: designing how to collect individuals in the field, selecting leaves and then measuring traits. All these items were covered during the course.
Certainly, the PFTC5 will be memorable. This course taught me how to work in science on times of global emergencies and what is more important: how to stay safe, calm and accompañied in hard situations like that.
